Star Trek Red Alert Video Slot Review

Star Trek Red Alert was the first in a series of video slots, featuring the very popular television series, to be released by Williams Interactive Software. Initially released as a brick and mortar slot machine, Star Trek Red Alert became very popular on casino floors around the world.

Due to this popularity WMS Gaming then put work into converting it for the online audience, where it can be found today. Star Trek Red Alert is a more complex slot than some of WMS’s other Canadian slots, boasting a few special features and some pretty good graphics. Its layout is the standard five reels with twenty five paylines, and it has a number of special feature bonus rounds. This slot can also be played for both real and free money, making it a great fun choice for beginners.

Science Fiction Television Theme

The theme from this slot is very obviously taken straight from the TV series of the same name. The game features retro style graphics and transparent reels that allow players to explore millions of light years away.

At the top of the reels you will find a box that shows you your level status. As you play the game, you will advance to the next level, which will open up new episodes and new story lines that go with them. Each new episode involves a new world that you can discover, and there are multiple episodes to play through. Of course during all this you will be spinning reels and hopefully winning cash too.

Star Trek Symbols

The symbols on the reels are all of our favourite Star Trek characters. Dr McCoy, Spock, Captain Kirk are all there as this particular game is based on the first TV series. You will also find an Evil Guy, a medical Tricorner, a Communicator, Starfleet insignia and even a Klingon Bird. There is also a feature symbol that triggers the Red Alert feature, a wild Scotty symbol, a Spock Multiplier symbol and an Enterprise Fly By symbol.

Star Trek Red Alert Special Features

This slot has quite a number of special features that are quite confusing to get to grips with initially. The first is the Beam Me Up Scotty feature, where Scotty will appear and fill up one or more reels completely with Scotty Wild symbols. This can be added to the Spock Multiplier feature, seriously adding up to some exciting wins.

The second is the Enterprise Fly By feature. When the Enterprise ship flies by randomly, all winning combinations will change into one of the main symbols, such as Kirk, Spock or McCoy. Here the Star Trek logo serves as the wild symbol.

The Red Alert feature is the last of the main features in Star Trek Red Alert.  This is launched when three or more feature symbols are found, awarding you with unlimited free spins. A separate set of reels is used during the free spins round, and every wining spin blasts away one of the potential multipliers, creating multipliers on the free spins anywhere from 2x to 15x. For every non-winning spin you will lose one of five shields. T

he bonus round will come to an end when you lose all five shields. You can however repower shields back to full strength by getting three or more of them in one spin. Five feature symbols found on the reels will also award a payout worth 75 coins. Each time you trigger the Red Alert Feature, you will also get a medal. Fifty medals allow you to advance to the next episode.
